Welcome To Scientific Discovery!

Scientific Discovery is the bi-monthly publication for the members of the institution and the followers of the ORE-STEM development from throughout the world. Towards the year 2000 the institute will set out the necessity and reasons to why we have to build the ORE complex for the benefit of mankind. This will take the form of international analysis and their comparison with the ‘Western’ economies and the emerging Asian economies together with an insight into the socio-economic implications for the advanced industrialised nations of the world.

The ‘EAGLE HAS LANDED’ - Astronaut Joins the World Innovation Foundation Apollo 11 Astronaut Colonel Dr. Buzz Aldrin has joined the Foundation as an Executive Council Member. His vision is totally futuristic which is totally in-keeping with the philosophy of the Foundation. In time, ‘Space Travel’ for all will become a reality and Dr. Aldrin is at the forefront of this great development for mankind. As with all our Members, he will make the future happen.

World Economists Join the Foundation and it’s Work

Two of the world’s leading economists have joined the World Innovation Foundation. Nobel Laureate Professor Dr.h.c.mult Merton Miller from the University of Chicago, USA and Nobel Laureate Professor Dr.h.c.mult Reinhard Selten from the University of Bonn accepted their nominations in November 1998. These world experts in economics, both applied and experimental, are seen as a major transitional point of joining the world of science with the world of global economics. The commercial realities of the 21st century will make it imperative that scientific discovery and research works in harmony with world finance and it’s structures so as to forge cohesive strategies to attain global success. In unison, the world will progress at a much faster rate for the benefit of all mankind and it’s future generations. Co-operation has to be seen in this light.

Uniquely distinguished Nobel Laureates join the Foundation

The only two women in the world today from the world of science to have received the world's highest scientific award, the Nobel Prize, have both joined the Foundation. In November 1998, Professor Rita Levi-Montalcini and Professor Rosalyn Sussman Yalow became Associate and Honorary Members respectfully. The WIF now includes 24 Nobel Laureates from Chemistry, Economics, Medicine and Peace. These great discoverers and creators of the modern world still develop their innovative thinking today for tomorrow’s world. Without them the world would be a far sorrier place, and all peoples no matter what race or belief should thank creative destiny that they were born to provide so much for so many. They are Justifiably mankind’s greatest asset.

British Government’s ‘White Paper’ on COMPETITIVENESS

The ‘White Paper’ on Britain’s future Competitiveness Strategy is due out in the very near future. Representatives from the WIF had a further meeting with the DTI and their new assistant Director of Innovation Policy, Gillian Hunter, on 5 November 1998. Gillian is the co-ordinator bringing all the consultation aspects together of the ‘White Paper’ and is instrumental in its final make-up. WIF Members who commented and advised on the structure of the Working Party’s fundamental insights are to be formally acknowledged by the DTI. Although the WIF’s advisory panel have given excellent feed-back to the DTI there are unfortunately still major areas of neglect. We have to ask ourselves in a future world, are we achieving a satisfactory return on Tax Payer’s money when only around £40million in royalties etc are received back to the ‘Treasury’ for an input of over £2000 million into the present structure of academic research in Britain today? Indeed, this can be said for all the industrialised nations of the world. The WIF has voiced its opinion very strongly to the DTI. Indeed, we do not wish that the universities receive less, but more. The problem lies in the ‘identification and direction’ process. This is where the ‘White Paper’ will be highly flawed in it’s make-up. The reasoning is clear. It is no good, no matter what amount of funding is provided, if we do not isolate commercial winners and maximise our investment. To spend £2000 million and receive back £40million is just commercial madness and no ‘City’ Institution would contemplate such a transaction, so why does the Government carry on with this ad hoc investment process? Our Members above all in the world today are highly geared and qualified to resolve this vital of all vital issues.

Current Facts:
In manufacturing industry the average British wage allows UK companies to employ 36 Chinese workers in China and and US companies can employ the equivalence of 44. True Inflation in China is -1.1 and will not change this parity.
