Dr Quarmby was honoured in 1996 for his excellence in architectural innovation and services to architecture with an honourary Doctor of Science degree from the University of Huddersfield.
(At the same ceremony Sir Richard Sykes of Glaxo-Wellcome was also honoured with a Hon.DSc. degree).
Dr Quarmby is the only architect listed in the Guinness Book of Records.
