Welcome To Scientific Discovery!
This is the second edition of Scientific Discovery which is a monthly publication for the members of the institute and the followers of the ORE-STEM development throughout the world. Towards the year 2000 the institute will set out the necessity and reasons to why we have to build the ORE complex for the benefit of mankind. This will take the form of international analysis and their comparison with the United Kingdom and other nations together with an insight into the socio-economic implications for the advanced industrialised nations of the world.
N.B. Due to the holiday periods in the UK during August and world celebrations/holiday periods during December/January each year the Newsletter during these periods will be a joint-monthly publication. There will therefore be ten Newsletters per year.
News of the ORE-STEM Complex
Approaches were made in July 1997 to the Department of Trade and Industry (D.T.I.) and the European Secretariat for the purpose of ascertaining European funding for the development and construction of the ORE-STEM complex. Initial expression from North Lincolnshire Council's economic development unit in 1995 stated that up to 50% funding may be available. Although the funding mechanism for the ORE-STEM complex does not depend on European Community funding, the acquisition of such financial assistance would quite clearly be of significant benefit.
Sponsorship funding for the next phase in the conceptual design stage of the ORE is in hand from both the corporate sector and private individuals. In the first week, initial donations received amounted to £5,250. Although £100,000+ design funding is required the institute feels that this will be forthcoming throughout the 1997-1998 period. Accordingly all donations no matter how small or large are thankfully received. Planning application for the ORE-STEM Complex is programmed to be submitted during period 1998-1999 on completion of the institute's social and economic impact analysis.
